BIZANA TEEN SHINES AS MISS EMBO SENIOR FINALIST
Bizana – Siphosethu Duma, a bright and determined Grade 9 learner from Mathwebu community, is making waves as a senior finalist in the prestigious Miss Embo pageant.
The 15-year-old pupil at Bizana Village Senior Secondary School has her sights set on more than just the runway. For Duma, the pageant represents confidence, self-expression, and the chance to inspire others, especially young girls in rural communities who often feel overlooked.
“Being part of Miss Embo is not just about walking on stage. It’s about believing in yourself and showing others that they too can dream and achieve,” she said.
Raised in Mathwebu, Duma has long been driven by a passion for positive change. She is determined to use her platform to highlight important issues, including education, mental health, and body positivity. Her plans include running social media campaigns, hosting community events, and initiating outreach programmes that give a voice to the marginalized.

“I want to be a voice for the voiceless and hope for the hopeless,” she said with conviction.
Duma’s journey has been bolstered by strong support from her family, school, and community, all of whom have rallied behind her dream. They see her as a beacon of hope and a role model for the younger generation.
If crowned Miss Embo, Duma says she would feel honoured and humbled, but above all, grateful for the opportunity to make a lasting impact.
“My goal is to inspire, promote positivity, and break barriers so that every young person knows their worth,” she said.
As the Miss Embo pageant approaches, all eyes in Bizana will be on this young trailblazer, who embodies the spirit of ambition, resilience, and empowerment.
