As a finalist in the prestigious Miss Embo 2025 competition, Lilitha Maphekula from Nomlacu Community in Bizana is determined to leave her mark on the modeling industry. For the young beauty, the competition is more than a pageant — it’s a launchpad for a career she has long envisioned.

“I want to gain visibility and recognition in modeling, and this competition can help me build more self-confidence and self-esteem,” she said.

But Maphekula’s vision stretches beyond personal ambition. She believes the Miss Embo platform can empower aspiring models from her community. “We can provide workshops and classes, offer guidance and support, and share tips on confidence, facial expression, posture, movement, and posing,” she explained.

Like many in the modeling world, her journey hasn’t been without hurdles. She recalls being rejected by an agent due to high competition and lack of experience. Still, she remains optimistic. “I’m supported by my community and potential sponsors, who motivate me to stay positive and focused,” she said.

If she wins the coveted Miss Embo crown, Maphekula sees it as a gateway to bigger opportunities. “Winning the title would increase my visibility and recognition, provide a platform to advocate for social causes, and potentially secure a modeling contract,” she noted.

For now, she is calling on her community and sponsors for support to help her pursue her dream. “I would appreciate any financial assistance or guidance that can help me stay focused and achieve my goals,” she said.
