SINENKANI FC VS SAFA CASE POSTPONED TO AUGUST 5-6, 2025

The Makhanda High Court has postponed the hearing between Sinenkani FC and the South African Football Association (SAFA) to August 5-6, 2025. The postponement is attributed to the unavailability of the full bench of judges and the late submission of papers by parties that have recently joined the case.

According to sources, the late submissions were made as recently as last night, necessitating the delay to allow all parties to file their affidavits. This development means that the case will not be heard until early August, prolonging the uncertainty surrounding Sinenkani FC’s participation in the ABC Motsepe League playoffs.

The dispute between Sinenkani FC and SAFA stems from a contentious match against Ravens FC in January 2025, which Sinenkani lost 1-0. The club alleges that the match commissioner, Thenjana Mbangatha, is the father of a Ravens FC player, Ntando Tyson Mbangatha, raising concerns about impartiality. Sinenkani FC claims that this alleged conflict of interest violates SAFA’s Competition Uniform Rules.

The postponement has left Sinenkani FC and its supporters in limbo, with the team’s participation in the playoffs hanging in the balance. Despite the uncertainty, Sinenkani FC remains determined to pursue justice and prove itself on the field. The team’s spokesperson, Lixolile Petela, has emphasized that they are fighting for justice and will not be deterred by the delays.

The case will resume on August 5-6, 2025, with all parties expected to present their arguments. The outcome will determine the fate of Sinenkani FC’s participation in the ABC Motsepe League playoffs and potentially have significant implications for the team and the sport as a whole.
