Municipality Bids Farewell to Beloved Manager

The Winnie Madikizela-Mandela local municipality hosted a heartfelt memorial service today, February 26, 2025, to honor the life and legacy of Mrs. Nonzaliseko Rabie-Xakata. The municipality’s Manager of Admin Support and Auxiliary Services, Mrs. Rabie-Xakata, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Cllr. Zithobile Mhlwazi, Speaker of the municipal council, welcomed attendees to the memorial service, describing Mrs. Rabie-Xakata’s passing as a “deep wound.” He emphasized that the service was an opportunity to celebrate her life, find comfort, and support her family.

Colleagues who worked under Mrs. Rabie-Xakata remembered her as a loving and supportive manager, always relaxed and with a good spirit. Mayor Cllr. Daniswa Mapumbatha praised Mrs. Rabie-Xakata’s dedication, diligence, and commitment to delivering services to the community.

Mrs. Rabie-Xakata began her career at the municipality in 2002 as a part-time employee and later secured a full-time position in 2003. Her contributions to the municipality and the community will be deeply missed.

The memorial service was attended by various stakeholders, including municipal officials, community members, and family and friends of the late Mrs. Rabie-Xakata. Her funeral will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Mtyu, Libode.

As the municipality bids farewell to this remarkable individual, they take comfort in the indelible mark she left on their lives and the community.
