Executive Mayor to Hand Over Contractor for Major Water Supply Project
In a significant development, Executive Mayor Vukile Mhlelembana of the Alfred Nzo District Municipality (ANDM) is set to hand over a contractor for the Greater Mbizana Water Supply Scheme Phase 1B. This project, valued at over R57 million, aims to provide quality and safe drinking water to more than 600 households in Ward 17 of the Winnie Madikizela Mandela Local Municipality.
The project, scheduled to commence this month and conclude in August 2026, will create approximately 20 jobs, contributing to the fight against poverty and unemployment in the area. The scope of works includes the excavation of trenches, installation of pressure pipelines, isolation valves, break pressure tanks, and standpipes.
The handover ceremony will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Sicelo Bhani Community Hall in Mbizana. Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event.
This project is part of the ANDM’s efforts to improve the lives of its residents, particularly in rural areas. As stated in the municipality’s vision, “By 2030, Alfred Nzo will be a place where communities enjoy much improved public infrastructure in an environmentally sustainable manner, better quality of public services and socio-economic opportunities”.
