LORCH LEAVES SUNDOWNS FOR WAYDAD AC
Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed that they have reached a loan agreement with Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club for the services of midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch. The 31-year-old winger, who joined Sundowns in January 2023 from Orlando Pirates for an undisclosed fee, will embark on a six-month loan stint with Wydad AC.
During his tenure with the Brazilians, Lorch made 27 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and playing a pivotal role in the team’s Betway Premiership title triumph. However, the Free State-born midfielder has found himself relegated to the periphery of the team this season, making only six appearances.

As reported by SABC Sport, Lorch’s departure from Sundowns marks a new chapter in his career, with Wydad AC offering him an opportunity to revitalize his form under the tutelage of Rulani Mokwena. Notably, this will be the third time that Lorch will be coached by Mokwena, having previously worked together at Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The loan agreement is expected to provide Lorch with the necessary platform to regain his confidence and rediscover his form, while also affording Wydad AC an opportunity to bolster their midfield ranks with a talented and experienced player.
