ORLANDO PIRATES SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON PLAYER TRANSFER RUMOURS

Orlando Pirates Football Club has expressed concern over the growing trend of misinformation circulating on social media and in certain media outlets regarding alleged offers for some of its players.

The Club has chosen to address these unsubstantiated claims in order to set the record straight. A fabricated story regarding Monnapule Saleng alleged that the Club had denied the player a lucrative transfer opportunity to a team in the Middle East.

Orlando Pirates categorically denies ever receiving any offer from a Middle Eastern club for Saleng’s services. A story published on (link unavailable) on January 13, 2025, claimed that an agent, Rui Frois, met with a “high-ranking” Pirates official to discuss Saleng’s availability. However, the Club asserts that no official has spoken to Mr. Frois regarding this matter.

Orlando Pirates star Tito Maswanganyi at the center of false transfer rumors, with the Club denying any offers for the player.

Furthermore, an article published by Briefly News Sports on January 20, 2025, claimed that a Portuguese club was eyeing a bid for Patrick Maswanganyi. The Club rejects this as sheer gossip, stating that no such offer has been presented.

Orlando Pirates views these baseless stories as not only misleading but also disruptive to the focus of its players and destabilising to the team. The Club remains committed to conducting its business with integrity and transparency.

Orlando Pirates urges media outlets and individuals to verify information before publishing, as false reporting harms not only the players and the Club but also diminishes the credibility of the platforms involved.

The Club thanks its supporters for their unwavering trust and encourages them to rely on official channels for accurate updates.
