DURBAN MAN ARRESTED FOR MURDER OF 21-YEAR-OLD WOMAN
A 37-year-old man from Amaotana in Inanda, Durban, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 21-year-old woman and burying her body in his yard.
According to police reports, the woman was last seen leaving an Umhlanga restaurant with her work manager, the accused, on Christmas Day. When she failed to return home, her family reported her missing, sparking a police investigation.
The probe led police to the suspect’s home in Amaotana, where they discovered the woman’s body buried in the yard. It is alleged that the suspect and the victim had an altercation, which resulted in him strangling her to death.
The suspect was arrested this morning and is expected to appear before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face charges of kidnapping, murder, and defeating the ends of justice.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing scourge of gender-based violence in South Africa. As the nation mourns the loss of another young life, authorities have pledged to ensure that justice is served.
