RADIO PERSONALITY NOMONDE VAKALISA LAID TO REST

Umhlobo Wenene FM presenter, Nomonde Patience Vakalisa, was mourned today at the Mt. Ayliff Sports Field. Vakalisa passed away on December 4th after a long illness, leaving behind a legacy of hope and resilience.

Vakalisa, 47, was the host of the popular show “Bek’ithemba Lakho Kuye” on Umhlobo Wenene FM. She had been with the station for several years, presenting various programs, including the Breakfast Show, Local Top 30 (Izikhokho zoMzantsi), Iqonga leGospile, Imvuselelo and Ngenani Emasangweni Ngendumiso.

Through her work, Vakalisa used the airwaves to inspire and uplift her audience. Her message of hope and perseverance touched countless lives, making her a beloved figure in Eastern Cape radio.

Vakalisa is survived by her son. Her passing has left a void in the lives of those who knew her, both personally and professionally.

Vakalisa is laid to rest at her home village of Chithwa in Mt. Ayliff today.

The SABC and Umhlobo Wenene FM extend their condolences to Vakalisa’s family, colleagues and friends. Her contributions to South African radio will be deeply missed.
