PROVINCIAL COMMISSIONER LAUNCHES 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM CAMPAIGN

East London – The Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene, will launch the 16 Days of Activism Campaign of No Violence Against Women and Children today.

The event, which aims to raise awareness about the scourge of violence against women and children, will take place at the Needscamp (Phumlani) Community Hall in KuGompo, East London.

The 16 Days of Activism Campaign is an international campaign that starts on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ends on December 10, International Human Rights Day.

During the launch, Lt Gen Mene is expected to address the community and stakeholders about the importance of working together to prevent violence against women and children. The Provincial Commissioner will also outline the South African Police Service’s plans to combat violence against women and children during the 16-day period.

The event will also feature presentations by various stakeholders, including government departments, non-governmental organizations, and community-based organizations. These presentations will focus on the causes and consequences of violence against women and children, as well as strategies for prevention and support.The launch event is open to the public, and members of the community are encouraged to attend and show their support for the campaign.

The event will also be attended by various dignitaries, including government officials, traditional leaders, and religious leaders.The 16 Days of Activism Campaign is a critical initiative that aims to raise awareness about the scourge of violence against women and children. By working together, we can create a safer and more just society for all.
