PIRATES BID FAREWELL TO FOUR MORE
Orlando Pirates have confirmed that the club has parted ways with four more of their stars. Recently, the club have released Fortune Makaringe who has been linked with Cape Town City and Cameroonian striker, Souaibou Marou. Marou has failed to find the back of the net for the Buccaneers even after he was hyped as one of the best strikers Pirates could have.
Orlando Pirates have released a statement on Friday, 7 March 2024, confirming that they released four more players. Here are the payers Pirates have parted ways with.
“As the football season draws to a close, we not only mark the end of our campaign but also bid farewell to some of our esteemed players” read the statement.
“Orlando Pirates can confirm that Richard Ofori, Siyabonga Mpontshane, Thabang Monare and Kermit Erasmus will be leaving us when their respective contracts come to an end on June 30”.
Pirates have expressed their gratitude for the services the boys have have rendered for the club.
“It is with a deep sense of gratitude that we reflect on the contributions of these players during their time with us”
What is said about the players?
Richard Ofori

Richard joined the Mighty Buccaneers in 2020 and quickly became a cornerstone of their defence, playing 58 matches and securing 29 clean sheets. The club has described him as an outstanding individual even beyond the pitch with his influence.

Siyabonga Mpontshane

“The 38-year-old will be leaving after nine seasons with the us. His tenure has been marked by exceptional discipline and dedication, making him one of our most respected and appreciated members of the team”
Thabang Monare

From the day he stepped foot in the club, the 34-year-old gave it his all. Desh, as he is affectionately known has been the embodiment of hard work and resilience, featuring in 93 matches for the Buccaneers. Monare leaves the club with 2 Nedbank Cup, 2 MTN8 Cup and a silver medal for the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kermit Erasmus

Kermit rejoined the Buccaneers in 2022 after nine years away and made an immediate impact by helping us clinch the MTN8 title. With over 117 matches under his belt in Pirates colours, Romeo, has solidified his legendary status at the club.
