ATM HANDS OVER A HOUSE TO A CHILD HEADED FAMILY AT SIPAQENI

The African Transformation Movement (ATM) held a party’s rally on Saturday, 18 May 2024 at Sipaqeni locality in Flagstaff. This comes as the ATM will participate in the upcoming national and provincial elections, that are expected to be held on 29 May 2024. The party was not only a success to the members and those who supports the party, but it was also beneficial to the Somdizela family, as the ATM handed over a fully furnished five roomed house to the child headed family, a family that was living in misery for years, in a small house that could collapse anytime. The members of the family were all smiles as their house was officially opened by ATM’s president, Vuyo Zungula. Zungula said this was influenced by the party’s beliefs about the spirit of ubuntu.

“Umntu ngumntu ngabantu and that is why we took a decision to intervene and build this house so that the family will have a decent home. It is not only in this family that we see an unpleasant situation and intervene, but we do this to all communities where we see it necessary to do so” Said Zungula.

He added that as the party their priority is ensuring the restoration of dignity to the black communities, ensuring a better living for them, emphasizing their political will to help the disadvantaged, with only two seats in parliament.

“We will work hand in hand with the religious and traditional leaders to safeguard the family and ensure that the family is safe with their house” added Zungula.

Asindisiwe Somdizela, who is a family member expressed her gratitude to the ATM, citing that they have been liberated as a family, after a long time living in a very unpleasant situation, where it would be a worse situation during rainy days.

“I feel like there is a burden that has been offloaded on my shoulders. We come from a bad situation, I am so happy, and I have lost words of gratitude because when I think of rainy days, where we would sleep in a wet floor, covering ourselves with wet blankets, I feel like from today I have seen the light” said Asindisiwe.

Zungula also slammed the system of importing goods that can be manufactured in South Africa, a system, according to the party that cause the development to be stagnant.

“In South Africa we have power stations, the only thing left is to make sure they are always in good condition, and we have to use coal to distribute electricity. We have to be more of a manufacturing country than a consuming one, as that is the case” concluded Zungula.
