TROUBLE IN PARADISE AT INGQUZA HILL MK PARTY’S RALLY
UMkhonto Wesizwe party’s rally that was held in Flagstaff has been a successful event that was grace by the presence of the party’s president, former ANC president, Jacob Zuma, on Sunday, 28 April 2024. However, everything turned sour on Monday, 29 April as the MK members from far areas have expressed their dismay on the way they have been treated by MK leaders from the province. These members have told Inkonjane Community Radio that they have slept in their taxis after they were not accommodated, claiming that there was neither food to eat nor water to bath. MK member who wanted to be kept anonymous says she is from Gcuwa and she is not happy about what has happened at Flagstaff.
“I was supposed to be in class today because I am a teacher, yet I am here, moving around and doing nothing because taxis that brought us here do not want to move as they were not paid. Secondly, from yesterday we have never eaten since yesterday, Flagstaff members only had food for themselves. We have slept in taxis for two days without bathing” says the member, who added that it is not healthy, especially for a woman not to bath for two days.

“Taxi owners have not worked for two days since they were hired by MK party and they are yet to be paid. I am going back to my organization that I have joined 20 years ago because it is worse with MK” added this member.
It has also been reported that one MK leader, who was resting peacefully in the guest house while members were suffering, insulted and beaten the taxi owner, who is a female.
One taxi owner from Butterworth Taxi Association, Solomzi Simanga says the three combis that transported MK members were promised to be paid in the drop off area and they have not been paid since.
“They took our quotations as if there is something that will happen and we respected them when Zuma, who is a leader, addressed us. However, the sun set and there was no response” says Simanga, adding that they had to follow MK leaders to the lodge they accommodated themselves in and they were talking about the same thing, their payment”.
Efforts to find MK leaders for their comment went in vain as the reporters were chased away like evil spirits by the MK leaders. Means to try and talk to them were devised however they said this is an internal issue that has nothing to do with media.
