DA LODGES COMPLAINT OVER PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA’S UTILIZATION OF STATES RESOURCES DURING CAMPAIGN

The Democratic Alliances has lodged a complaint to the Public protector Kholeka Gcaleka, with regards to the ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa’s campaign. According to the DA, Ramaphosa uses government programs in the party’s campaigns. On the 29th May, South Africans will be on polls, voting for their favorite political parties and in this period, the pressure is high in everyone, with political parties begging for votes. The DA Youth leader, Nicholas Nyathi says Ramaphosa utilizes state resources and committees for the party’s gain.

“We lodged a complaint to the public protector about the ANC president who is misleading people. We are talking about the president who went to Alexandra and promised the community 100 houses and did not build not even one”. Nyathi said, adding that this week Ramaphosa took a stand in the ruling party’s rally and promised 500 000 EPWP jobs.

“EPWP is a government program, not ANC’s and President is not allowed to make these promises in his campaign” Nyathi added.

DA also complained about 16 000 convicts who were released, citing that 400 of them has committed crime again.

“We cannot allow a situation where the president Ramaphosa protects the criminals more that the law abiding citizens”. He said.

Political analyst, Bhasela Yalezo, says these are baseless accusations against Ramaphosa as they have nothing to do with the violation of human rights.

“It would be better if these allegations were based on the evidence or something related to those jobs given to the ANC aligned individuals, but since it was just president promising jobs I do not think public protector can take a case on that” Said Yalezo.
