PENNY NTULI LEAVES GAGASI FM
Gagasi FM’s presenter, Penny Ntuli is leaving the station at the end of financial year. This was confirmed by Penny on her Facebook account, citing that she is not happy with the salary
“To confirm the rumours, yes I am leaving at work. It was time to renew contracts and I was given the opportunity to come back this season” reads the statement on Penny’s page.
She added that she accepted the new show until she was told that she will be paid R2800 per month, something not too far from what she was getting for the past two years.
“I felt disrespected but I had to calm down and went to the managers and asked them to review salary” Ntuli added. She said she was told to rather consider, doing other things other than being on air and that is when she decided that her contract should not be renewed.
Ntuli joined the Durban commercial radio station in 2022 after she posted a video of herself broadcasting and pleading on the station to recognize her.
“I know Gagasi FM is not searching for presenters but I noticed that two presenters have left so I thought, let me knock, what does Gagasi say?” that is how Penny captioned her video in 2022, mentioning Gagasi FM. She later joined the station as she now presents the weekend slot with Heazy.
It is clear that salary cut was the reason Ntuli told the management at Gagasi FM not to renew his contract. However, she encouraged those who wish to join the commercial radio station to shoot their shots. Meanwhile, Facebook users blame Gagasi FM for “disrespecting” Ntuli, who I s a bigger brand than Gagasi FM. They were looking at Ntuli’s Facebook page which has 1.5 Million followers, while Gagasi FM has 159 thousand followers. Efforts were made to get the station’s spokesperson, Khulekani Shandu, but all went in vein as it is said he is not at work today.
