INKONJANE FM’S LONGEST SERVING MEMBER APPRECIATED.
Zolile Mbono is one of longest serving radio presenters at a local radio station, Inkonjane FM. Hailing from Bhalasi, Flagstaff and residing at KwaGqathula locality, Lusikisiki, Bhabhezilokhweni, as he is affectionately known, is remembered for his jokes and laughter behind the mic, which earned him more fans even off air.
He joined the station in 2009 when it was launched and has been holding the baton till his retirement in 2023, feeding amaMpondo with their favorite traditional music through his shows, Sidudl’imfene every Saturday between 03h00 and 06h00, and Ngeyenu Mampondo on Wednesdays 19h00 to 21h00.
He is known by his unique links and lines such as, “Ngumi ngaa, nguwe ngapho, and” Ukhon’umnt’ola” when he answers the caller.
He is now a part time contributor at Inkonjane Community Radio, assisting in educating about isiMpondo culture and terms used by amaMpondo.
