Ramaphosa Highlights Legislative Achievements at Three-Day Conference

During the three-day conference aimed at government officials and key stakeholders, President Ramaphosa outlined the progress made since South Africa’s democratic transition. Reflecting on the journey since the inception of the democratic dispensation, Ramaphosa emphasized the significance of legislative measures in upholding the Constitution.

Ramaphosa detailed several pieces of legislation enacted to promote human rights as mandated by the Bill of Rights. Among these are the Access to Information Act, which aligns with Section 32 of the Constitution, and the Administrative Justice Act, which implements Section 33. Additionally, he highlighted the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act, which addresses measures of redress for previously disadvantaged groups as outlined in Section 9 (2) of the Constitution.

Other notable legislative achievements mentioned by Ramaphosa include the Employment Equity Act and the Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment Act, all aimed at fostering equality, justice, and empowerment within South Africa’s democratic framework.
