INKONJANE COMMUNITY RADIO MARKETING ASSISTANT REFLECTS ON ENTERTAINMENT JOURNEY

A 24-year-old Inkonjane Community Radio marketing assistant appreciates the local radio station for trusting her with vital role. Khanyisile Lutsiki, also known as Khanyie, joined the station as an intern from Walter Sisulu University, to perform marketing duties in 2023. Upon noticing a talent in her, the management approached her to co-host a morning slot called, Vukanathi Breakfast show between 6:00 and 09:00 on weekdays. She was performing this duty and marketing work for a period of his internship. She later got hired as a marketing assistant at the beginning of 2024, upon recognizing her skills and usefulness in marketing department.

Public relations graduate, radio personality and MC reflects on her journey as a public relations practitioner, saying that she did not choose the career but it chose her. She says growing up, she was passionate about being in the centre of attention, talking to people.

“I cannot say I chose PR, but rather, PR chose me and I think I did not do any mistake because I still enjoy it up to date” claims Lutsiki.

She added that she also had a passion for acting, hence the love for public speaking, adding that she is inspired by Katlego Danke, who is also an actress.

She highlighted how enjoyable it was for her to be a co-host of a morning slot as a debut gig, straight from the school. Lutsiki said she noticed at Inkonjane community radio that she can handle admin the way she handles it.

“On the other side I have to learn and unlearn some things, as I did not know that behind the mic you do not just open your mouth and speak but you have to choose your words wisely and ensure that you did a research of what you are talking about as your listener might know better than you know and will criticize you for delivering an information you know nothing about”.
