ALFRED NZO DISTRICT BRINGS SERVICES CLOSER TO THE COMMUNITY
Alfred Nzo district municipality held a customer care day on 14 March 2024
at the North End Stadium, Matatiele. The purpose of this program was to bring
services that are much needed by the community. People from Matatiele went out
in numbers, despite cold and heavy rain, to benefit from public and private
departments’ officials. According to the district, this program was planned for
November 2023, but due to busy schedule, it was hindered by other programs,
implying that Alfred Nzo district residents should expect visits to various
areas of the district.
MMC for Community Development Services in Matatiele local municipality,
Cllr. Shereen Booth said they were honored to be visited by the district
municipality as this was informed by the needs of the community members. “As we
all know that these services that are delivered to the community are those that
are much needed, it was all pleasure for us to be visited by the district as
our people, who are referred to as our customers, need these services and need
the information that comes from the officials from these departments,” said
Cllr. Booth.
Sassa, SEDA, FNB, Capitec, IEC among other service providers who were part
of the program, poured the information to the young and the old people who
attended the program, especially the information that has got to do with
elections that are expected to be held on 29 May 2024.
Community Development Services MMC in Alfred Nzo district municipality,
Cllr. Momelezi Mbedla, said by visiting Matatiele they want to ensure that the
community gets the service through partnership with public and private sector.
“This program is meant to be taken to where the communities are, not in
town. However, we are trying to solve the issue of the signal, once we solve
that issue we will then be able to visit more wards that are in deep rural
areas” added Cllr. Mbedla.
The community members said this program brought a difference to them as they
got information the information they were longing for, on how the spheres of
government work.
